NEW PRINCIPAL NAMED AT JOHN SEVIER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
MARYVILLE, TN, JUNE 5, 2019 - Director of Maryville schools, Dr. Mike Winstead, is pleased to announce the selection of BRANDEE EASTERLY as the new principal of John Sevier Elementary School.  Dr. Winstead said, "Based on the recommendations of an outstanding interview committee and outcome of a strenuous evaluation process, we are happy to announce Brandee Easterly as principal of John Sevier Elementary School.  Mrs. Easterly is coming from Maryville Jr. High School, where she served most recently as assistant principal.  I share principal McGinley's sentiments about Brandee's performance at MJHS that led to this promotion.  In that statement, she used descriptors such as goal-driven leader, enthusiastic, knowledge-hungry learner, eager, passionate, upbeat, and positive.  We believe Brandee will exceed our expectations in every way."
Ms. Easterly graduated summa cum laude from the University of Tennessee Knoxville where she earned both Bachelor and Master degrees, followed by an Ed.S. degree from Tennessee Technological University.  She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. from UTK in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies.  In terms of experience, Mrs. Easterly has previously worked as a special education teacher, in private industry, as a member of Pellissippi State’s adjunct faculty, and junior high school administrator.
Mrs. Easterly and her husband Mark reside in Maryville and have two adult children – one in Knoxville and the other in Washington D.C.  Commenting on her new position, Brandee said “I am so grateful and excited about this opportunity to work with new students, teachers, and parents in a building that is poised for growth with several newly constructed classrooms.  I cannot wait to meet every member of the amazing JSE staff and welcome families back to school in August. I believe every individual can make a difference in the life of a child and we will be very focused in the months and years ahead to plan and set goals that support all JSE students in meaningful and purposeful ways.”
Mrs. Easterly replaces Ginny Boles who recently accepted a principals position in Oak Ridge, where she lived and attended school as a child.
